Finding Purpose Part 2

Life can sometimes be overwhelming. We have so much we want to do with our lives. We are carrying the expectations of others, some have children to be examples to and then we have society pushing us to do more, to achieve more. If we allow these things and people to set the foundation of how successful we are, our lives will be full of stress and disappointment.

I spoke with one girl at my old job about this. She was feeling very stressed out and looked extremely tired. She began to express how she was feeling overwhelmed with working, being in a relationship and going to school. She had a list of things to do and very little time to do it all. My encouragement to her was to prioritize.

Thats what I have to do all the time. It can be difficult and overwhelming trying to get EVERYTHING done or trying to be good at so much or be successful at the wrong time. I believe its about purpose. Whatever is in your list of things that does not contribute to your God-given purpose can wait. Sometimes there are things we take on that we can just sit down for a moment and fulfill what God has told us to do.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.

Even Jesus did the same thing. In Mark chapter 3 when the disciples came to him in his time with God the Father, Jesus told them he didnt have time to stay where he was and heal people all day, he had to fulfill his purpose and teach in other places as well. Jesus knew what his purpose was on this earth. He didnt watse time on things that were not important. He kept doing what he was suppose to do. Not only did Jesus go back to heaven, but without his death, we couldnt recieve the Holy spirit. Likewise, not only will your purpose effect you, but other around you as well.

Sometimes thats what we have to do as well. Proverbs 19:21 says, Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the lord's purpose that prevails. We have many ideas, we have so many desires but in the end, what will really make us successful is the purpose we are given. What we were made for is what will cause us to experiance the abundant life God has for us.

God causes us to triumph when we put our trust in him and follow his plan. Ive seen it done. I think to myself about how successful I will be when i finally finish my book. I try to encourage myself to stay focused on the purpose God gave me and not try to venture off to other things too soon. There is something great on the inside of each and everyone of us. We just have to walk it out.
