Show Them Who You Are

It’s vital you know your identity in God! You are never as good as others say you are & never as bad as others say you are! #Identity

So this blog post we are going to interrupt our regular scheduled programming. All may know this blog is more geared toward singleness, relationships and marriage. However, this article will be about identity. Growing up, a lot of you were probably told how beautiful you are, or how you can do whatever you put your mind to or you were probably told by people you love that they love you. Or, maybe you were not told any of these things. Maybe most of your value came from trying to be fulfilled by a man. Anywho, how many of us grew up knowing our identity in Christ?

It is much more powerful to read these things in his word. When we know how valuable we are in God's sight, we avoid a lot of unnecessary relationships. We make better use of our time and who we spend it with. Have you read song of Solomon chapter 7. In that chapter a man is admiring a woman body. He's going over every part of her telling her how beautiful she is. This is exactly how God feels about us. We are his masterpieces, his greatest creation. He sees no flaw in how we look when he looks at us.
His word says Psalm 139:14 says I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. We are beautiful because God said it first. No matter what shape, complexion or ethnicity.

Roman 8:37 says No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

We are victorious people. No matter what we deal with we can keep this mindset. It may not always be easy. But when we give our battles to God, we always win! You may have heard of so many stories in the bible where people go into battle that seem helpless and feel like they are going to loose. I like the story of Gideon. A man who went into battle with an army of 300 men against an army of about 250,000. But because he trusted God with his battle, even though he was hesitant at first, he was victorious.

We were chosen by God. 1 Peter 2:9 says But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people who are God’s own possession. You have become this people so that you may speak of the wonderful acts of the one who called you out of darkness into his amazing light.
God has chosen you to be his holy nation and royal priest hood. It is so much better to consider ourselves chosen by God, then to try and get others to choose us. But because we are chosen by God, he makes the desicions in our lives. He is the head over us. He causes great things to happen.

I was reading the book of John chapter 5 and in the first part, a man who is paralyzed is sitting by the pool of Bethesda with all these other people who are sick as well. But Jesus chooses HIM to make him well. Jesus saw how long he was suffering and that he wanted to be better and chose him. That's the same thing he does to us. Jesus knows our hearts. He sees when we really want to follow him, and so he chooses us to be his children! What an awesome God we serve.

The bible gives so many scriptures telling us who we are in Christ. So I encourage you to look them up so you can know who you really are, and what power you possess as a child of God. God could have been the type of God who just wanted to rule over us and not give us anything significant. But because he loves us he made us in his image so that we can be everything he is. We are his children! 💖
